Director of Uveitis, Ocular Inflammation & Autoimmune Eye Disease

Dr. Jay Siak is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist and Director of Uveitis, Ocular Inflammation & Autoimmune Eye Disease at Eagle Eye Centre. He specializes in the treatment of age-related eye diseases such as cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinal disease. He performs cataract surgery, including femtosecond laser cataract surgery, and offers treatment for presbyopia using multifocal intraocular lenses. In addition, he performs LASIK, SMILE, and Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) implantation to treat myopia and astigmatism.

Dr. Siak graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2004, where he was placed on the Dean’s List for academic excellence. He received the Ministry of Health Postgraduate Training Scholarship in 2012 and the Healthcare Research Scholarship in 2013. He holds a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) and a Master of Clinical Investigation, both from NUS. He completed his specialist training at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) in 2015 and is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London), the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

In addition to comprehensive ophthalmology, Dr. Siak has a subspecialty focus in ocular inflammation and immunology. His clinical interests include the management of complex autoimmune, infectious, and allergic eye diseases such as uveitis, scleritis, viral retinitis, and ocular lymphoma. He underwent advanced fellowship training in ocular inflammation and immunology at SNEC under Professor Soon-Phaik Chee and furthered his expertise with two years of international fellowships at the Casey Eye Institute (Oregon Health & Science University, USA) under renowned experts Drs. James Rosenbaum, Eric Suhler, and Phoebe Lin, as well as at the National Eye Institute (NIH, USA) with Drs. Rachel Caspi and Nida Sen.

A former Senior Consultant at SNEC until 2023, Dr. Siak remains a Visiting Consultant in its Ocular Inflammation and Immunology Department, contributing to both clinical care and the training of residents and fellows. He was also appointed Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, with research interests in infectious uveitis and ocular immunology. He has received funding from the Singapore National Medical Research Council and has published in the fields of CMV uveitis, uveitis epidemiology, and diagnostic advancements.

Dr. Siak is highly regarded for his patient-centred care, earning accolades including the 2023 Singapore Health Quality Service Award (Star Category) and the 2025 IHH Healthcare Service Star Award.
