Frequently asked questions
Ask us anything about how we can help you understand eye care better!
Cataract surgery is one of the most commonly performed and safest surgeries worldwide. However, as with any procedure, complications can occur.
Possible complications include:
- Mild infection or inflammation
- Temporary irritation or light sensitivity
- Raised eye pressure
Most complications are uncommon, mild, and treatable when detected early. Your surgeon will explain risks before surgery.
Some patients may notice:
- Glare
- Halos around lights
- Increased light sensitivity
These effects are usually temporary and improve as the brain adapts to the new lens. If needed, they can often be managed with medications or specialised glasses.
Laser vision correction can correct a wide range of refractive errors, subject to individual suitability:
- Myopia (short-sightedness): up to approximately -15.00 dioptres
- Hyperopia (long-sightedness): up to +6.00 dioptres
- Astigmatism: up to -6.00 dioptres
Final eligibility depends on corneal thickness, eye health, and detailed diagnostic scans.
Yes.
- Spectacles can still be worn if required
- Soft contact lenses may not be suitable in all cases
- Rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses can be fitted if necessary
Enhancement surgery may also be an option, depending on suitability.
Common temporary side effects include:
- Dry eyes
- Light sensitivity
- Glare or halos at night
These usually improve over time.
Severe complications such as infection or scarring are rare, and preventive antibiotic eye drops are routinely prescribed. Permanent vision loss is extremely uncommon.
Our doctors and clinical team are trained and experienced in refractive surgery, and patient safety is a priority at Eagle Eye Centre.
